This is our story." ― Harley Quinnīirds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), or simply Birds of Prey, and also marketed as Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, is a 2020 superhero film, based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. But I wasn't the only dame in Gotham looking for emancipation. Still the darkest timeline.109 minutes More information Full credits So much so that she's being pitched as a member of the Birds of Prey that doesn't even have Barbara Gordon (who formed the fucking thing) in the lineup. Her character has been watered down to just be a kooky t-shirt at Hot Topic. Harley, on the other hand, offers nothing now. She was truly unique, extremely competent, and exceptionally fun to read about. I'm not against empowering any characters, Barbara was at her best when she took a given disadvantage and made herself into Oracle, who was larger than any one given hero outside /maybe/ Superman. Not a single character can be a tragic figure destined to fail, even if they were intended as such by virtue of being a villain's sidekick. She was most interesting as someone unable to break free of an abusive relationship and a tragic figure, but I guess with taking Barbara out of the chair, empowerment is the only story worth telling. Making her into a hero is pretty much the absolute worst thing they ever did to her character. I really just don't want Harley anywhere near this thing.
